ALANYA STYLE PASTRY (GÖÇ ÇÖREĞİ)

Traditional Baked Specialty from Alanya


🧾 Ingredients (Serves 10)

  • 9 cups flour
  • 3 eggs (reserve 1 yolk for topping)
  • 2 cups yogurt
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 pack margarine or 1 cup butter (melted)
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Juice of 1 lemon (or نصف tea glass vinegar)
  • Walnuts (for topping)

👩‍🍳 Preparation

Mix egg whites, yogurt, and melted fat in a large bowl.
Add salt and baking soda. Squeeze lemon juice over the baking soda and mix.

Gradually add flour and knead until a soft dough (earlobe consistency) is formed.


🔥 Cooking

  • Place the dough into a greased baking tray
  • Brush with egg yolk
  • Slice into portions
  • Place half a walnut on each slice
  • Bake in a preheated 150°C oven until golden brown

🍽️ Serving Suggestion

Serve warm or at room temperature.
Perfect for breakfast or tea time.
