ALANYA STYLE PASTRY (GÖÇ ÇÖREĞİ)
Traditional Baked Specialty from Alanya
🧾 Ingredients (Serves 10)
- 9 cups flour
- 3 eggs (reserve 1 yolk for topping)
- 2 cups yogurt
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 pack margarine or 1 cup butter (melted)
- 1.5 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Juice of 1 lemon (or نصف tea glass vinegar)
- Walnuts (for topping)
👩🍳 Preparation
Mix egg whites, yogurt, and melted fat in a large bowl.
Add salt and baking soda. Squeeze lemon juice over the baking soda and mix.
Gradually add flour and knead until a soft dough (earlobe consistency) is formed.
🔥 Cooking
- Place the dough into a greased baking tray
- Brush with egg yolk
- Slice into portions
- Place half a walnut on each slice
- Bake in a preheated 150°C oven until golden brown
🍽️ Serving Suggestion
Serve warm or at room temperature.
Perfect for breakfast or tea time.
