Fresh Green Beans with Borlotti Beans Recipe (Turkish-Style Stew)

500 g fresh green beans

500 g fresh borlotti beans (cranberry beans)

3 medium onions

5 medium tomatoes

3 tablespoons tomato paste

1 tablespoon red pepper powder

1 cup vegetable oil

3 cloves of garlic

1 teaspoon salt
Preparation

Trim and wash the fresh green beans and borlotti beans.
2. Cooking

Place finely chopped onions, grated tomatoes, salt, tomato paste, red pepper powder, vegetable oil, and borlotti beans into a pot.

Cook over low heat with the lid closed, allowing the ingredients to sauté and release their juices.

Since borlotti beans take longer to cook than green beans, this initial step is important.

Then add the green beans and continue sautéing for a while.

Add enough water so that it does not exceed the level of the beans. Cover and cook until tender.

Shortly before the dish is done, you may add chopped garlic if desired.

Cooking Time: As borlotti beans require more time to soften than green beans, they should be added to the pot first and sautéed briefly before adding the green beans.
