ISTANBUL GOVERNOR’S OFFICE CIRCULAR TO INSTITUTIONS
\nWith the circular published by the Governorship of Istanbul on August 17, 2023, a reminder was made regarding the fulfillment of the implementation obligations regarding the alcohol sales and use areas determined by Law No. 4250.
\nThe Governorate of Istanbul was reminded of the rules prohibiting the use of alcohol in public social areas, parks, etc. by evaluating the complaints received from social media and individual citizens in order to ensure social peace.
\nWith the circular, police\/gendarmerie and police departments should carry out inspections in the mentioned places in an effective and responsible manner to prevent incidents that will disrupt public order, peace and security of the public.

\nThe circular issued by the Governorship of Istanbul reminded Alanya Mayor Candidate Mehmet \u015eahin’s statements on “alcohol use in social areas” that he had brought to the agenda in the past months. \u015eahin had stated in many meetings and television programs that he would not allow the use of alcohol in social areas such as parks where people spend time with their spouses and children in order to ensure social order, general morality, security and peace by using the authority given by the law to local governments during his mayoralty and that he would ensure city discipline in every field.

\nCitizens, who were asked about their opinions on the subject, found the statements of Mehmet \u015eahin, the mayoral candidate, appropriate and stated that the way of reason is one.
