Work continues in the ancient city of Naula, which is located in Mahmutlar neighbourhood and is associated with the Byzantine period. Supervising the cleaning works in the ancient city, Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik said, ‘Our aim is to bring Naula Ancient City to tourism.’
The works carried out by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Alanya Municipality in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to protect and reveal the archaeological values of the ancient city of Naula, which is located in the 1st Degree Archaeological Protected Area in Mahmutlar Quarter, and to bring it to cultural tourism continue. The cleaning work initiated by Alanya Municipality and Alanya Museum teams in the ancient city about 1 month ago continues meticulously. The plant cleaning works carried out by protecting historical values will end within 1 month. After the works, the landscaping project of the ancient city of Naula will be made in partnership with Alanya Municipality and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and will be transformed into a visitable ruin.

Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik, Deputy Mayor Murat Levent Koçak and Public Works Director Atahan Uyar inspected the ancient city of Naula. Mayor Özçelik, who inspected the works on site, gave instructions to accelerate the works to bring the ancient city to tourism and to become a centre of attraction by completing the procedures for cultural tourism in the region as soon as possible. Mayor Özçelik said, ‘In the second visit of the day, we are in the ancient city of Naula, which is a Byzantine structure dating back to the Byzantine period. Within the framework of the protocol between Alanya Municipality and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, we started cleaning here about 1 month ago and cleaning will continue for about 1 month more. There are many historical buildings such as 6 temples and churches in this city. It is 300 metres from the sea and right in the centre of Mahmutlar Mahallem. After the cleaning is completed, our aim is to open the ancient city of Naula to tourism by implementing the necessary projects.’
