TOPHANE
It is located to the south of the historical Seljuk shipyard and right next to it. This tower was probably built to protect the shipyard against foreign forces coming from the sea. There is a cistern inside the Topane tower to meet the water needs of the soldiers at that time. There is a large area in the section facing the south of Topane (outside the city walls). In the past, this area was called Hızırilyaslık and it is known as the place where people would have fun and eat and drink together in the spring months. There is a zawiya next to the Topane Tower. Since this zawiya was built, it served the people around the shipyard with its magnificent appearance until 1808. Since the passing centuries had worn it down considerably, Kadı Abdurrahman Pasha (Governor) had the tower and the zawiya next to it repaired and had an inscription placed in the zawiya before he was killed by the Janissaries.
